Two individuals believed to belong to a local criminal gang, Francis Okoside (“Franco”) and Douglas Barasa (“Dady Okangu”) are in police custody following a targeted raid by Teso South detectives in Busia County.
Searching Okoside’s home alongside his family, investigators uncovered 180 National ID cards belonging to various people, and officers are now probing the source of these documents and their potential role in illicit operations.
The search also yielded a tear gas canister, a heavy metal rod, and eight metal bars suspected of being used for house-breaking.
Additionally, detectives seized two pairs of military boots, five mobile phones, and a trove of other suspected stolen property.
All seized property has been logged as exhibits while officers process the suspects ahead of their arraignment.
Investigations remain active to dismantle the broader syndicate and round up remaining accomplices.
