Appearing at the Milimani Law Courts, three suspects accused of impersonating employees of Green Planet Kenya Limited and handling funds believed to be illicit proceeds pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The three, Erick Omondi Ochieno, Donna Moraa Omanwa and Clinton Maloba Anzoka appeared in court on October 19, 2026, before presiding Magistrate Joan Mati, where they all denied the charges.
They are charged with multiple offenses, including impersonation under Section 382(1) of the Penal Code, as well as violations related to the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act.
According to the charge sheet seen by Kauntinews.com, on July 15 and 16, 2026, at an unspecified location within Kenya, they allegedly falsely claimed to be employees of Sunking/Green Planet Kenya Limited in sales roles, with the intent to defraud, alongside accomplices not in court.
Donna Moraa Omanwa faces an alternative charge of possessing proceeds of crime, under Section 4(c) combined with Section 16(1)(a) of the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act No. 9 of 2009.
It is alleged that on July 16, 2026, she knowingly received Ksh 1,000 into her Choice Microfinance Bank account (number 02596), from Safaricom M-Pesa account in the name of Newton Koli, knowing or reasonably believing that the funds were derived from unlawful activities.
She is also accused of transferring Ksh 1,000 from her bank account on the same day.
Clinton Maloba Anzoka also faces charges of acquiring proceeds of crime, under Section 4(a), coupled with Section 16(1)(a) of the same act.
On July 15, 2026, he is alleged to have received Ksh 550 from Newton Koli’s M-Pesa account into his own Choice Microfinance Bank account.
The defence requested the court to impose lenient bail conditions, citing the misdemeanor nature of the allegations.
The magistrate granted them a bond of Ksh 50,000, or alternatively, Ksh 30,000 in cash for each accused.
The case is scheduled for pre-trial on November 9, 2026.
