
Two businessmen were on 21st August 2026 charged with charges relating to obtaining goods worth KSH 115M.
According to the charge sheet seen by kauntinews.com, the two, Kibet Trout and Peter Kimathi Kinyua, on the diverse dates between 1ˢᵗ January, 2024 and 24ᵗʰ January, 2024 within Nairobi County jointly with another not before court, with intent to defraud obtained from Peter Githinji Njuki goods namely 2383 bags of 60kgs Kenya Arabia Coffee valued at Ksh. 115,000,000/= by falsely pretending that it was a genuine coffee supply contract between Servicoff limited and Gilley investment Limited, the fact you knew to be false.
State prosecutor contend the businessmen fabricated a genuine supply deal between Savikov Limited and Geely Investments Limited to secure the produce.

However, the two pleaded not guilty to the charges. Their lawyer further stated that the matter is purely a commercial conflict spanning a decade-long trade relationship.
He also revealed that over KSh67 million has already been remitted under the agreement, undermining the state’s fraud claims. Highlighting ongoing civil litigation in the High Court Commercial Division where Gilley Investments Limited is pursuing funds from Savikof Limited, attorney Marete further noted that the underlying contract stipulates London-based arbitration under British Coffee Association rules for any contractual disputes.
He had also appealed for lenient terms, arguing that both accused individuals cooperated with police and pose no flight risk. Consequently, they were released on a KSh700,000 bond with a surety of the same amount or a KSh350,000 cash bail with one contact person, after the prosecution raised no objection to their release.
