Two suspects, PC Bett Kiplangat and Pius Muiru are currently locked up at Jinja Road Police Station awaiting extradition to Nairobi, the two had fled to Uganda illegally following the killing of Dr. Victoria Mutiso.
Prior to the cross-border operation, detectives intercepted a third suspect Samuel Karanja Gathoni, alias “Lawyer” around the Langata Multi-Media stretch as he travelled toward Ongata Rongai.
According to police findings, PC Bett handled surveillance and co-drove the Land Cruiser Prado (KDH 600A) used to block Dr. Mutiso’s Uber in Upper Hill on July 29, 2026, moments before the fatal shooting.
Meanwhile, Pius Muiru Mbugua served as the crucial liaison and paymaster between the hit squad and the mastermind who ordered the assassination.
Relying on forensic leads, investigators tracked the pair to the Kyanja Heights flats in Kampala’s Nakawa suburb, apprehending Police Constable Bett Kiplangat Collins (attached to Thogoto Police Station) and civilian Pius Muiru Mbugua.
The National Police Service commended the Uganda Police Force for its swift collaboration during the raid and detention, marking a major breakthrough in the assassination probe of Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.
A joint unit composed of CRIB, Operations and Homicide detectives from DCI Headquarters spearheaded the operation that brought down all three individuals across Nairobi and Kampala.
The suspects are being prepared for return to Kenya, where all three will be processed and formally charged in court.
The arrests in Kampala stand as the ultimate rebuttal to those assertions and the DCI assured the public that further updates will follow as investigations progress.
