A homeless middle aged man, who is deaf and cannot speak, admitted to charges of unlawfully entering and stealing from the residence of Kasarani’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Captain Ronald Karauri, a Nairobi court was told.
On June 10th, 2026, the accused, Jeremy Kamau, appeared before senior principal magistrate Paul Mutai at the Milimani Law Courts.
He was escorted into court on a walking frame, bearing a gunshot wound to his right leg. Kamau communicated his plea through a court-appointed interpreter proficient in sign language.

He faced allegations of burglary under Section 304(2) of the Penal Code, for unlawfully entering the MP’s home during nighttime with the intent to steal.
In addition, he was charged with theft from a dwelling in line with Section 279(b), and an alternative count of handling stolen goods under Section 322(1)(2), after being found in possession of stolen items including a laptop, food, and beverages.
Court records seen by kauntinews.com indicated that on the night of January 18th, 2026, around 1:00 AM, Kamau allegedly gained entry into the MP’s residence located in Westlands, where he took valuable items and consumables.
Among the stolen possessions was an Apple MacBook Air M2, valued at Kshs. 100,000, a can of HEING Beans worth Kshs. 250, and a MAISON PERBIER energy drink also priced at Kshs. 250.
The total worth of the stolen goods was approximately Kshs. 100,500, all belonging to Hon. Captain Ronald Karauri.
During the break-in, Kamau reportedly advanced toward the MP’s security detail, prompting the bodyguard to discharge his firearm and injure Kamau in the right leg.
The magistrate scheduled a pre-sentencing hearing for June 17th to determine the next steps in the case.
