
The High Court in Kibera has granted detectives 10 days to detain a woman linked to the mysterious death of a 79-year-old gynecologist as investigations into the suspected murder continue.
Kibera Deputy Registrar (DR) Barbara Alice Akinyi issued the custodial orders allowing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to continue holding Beatrice Wangari at Kilimani Police Station pending completion of investigations into the death of Dr. Job Obwaka.
According to the prosecution, they are investigating a possible case of suspected poisoning, which may have occurred at Wangare’s residence.
During a house search at Wangari’s home, several items were recovered: two plates, one spoon, a water glass, assorted drugs, a blanket, a bedcover, a wet shawl, a 750ml bottle of half-consumed Robertson Winery, and an 187ml bottle of Stone Dale.
The items were found at the kitchen sink, unwashed and with food stains, and are awaiting transfer to the government chemist for toxicological analysis.

The supporting affidavit sworn by Sgt. Rhoda Nzioka states that they are investigating a case of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code. The officer further stated that Wangare was arrested on 1st May 2026.
The documents seen by kauntinews.com, the deceased, Dr. Job Obwaka, aged 79 years, drove himself from Nairobi to visit Wangare at her residence in Milimani, within Kitengela, Kajiado County, around 1400 hrs.At approximately 1305 hrs, the deceased arrived at OBC Mall in Kitengela and parked his Mercedes Benz (black) in the basement.
Wangari, driving her Volkswagen Tiguan, picked him up from the mall and proceeded to her residence at Olive Court in the Milimani area of Kitengela. She prepared a meal, which the deceased ate, after which he requested to rest in the master bedroom.
He was later joined by the respondent, and they became intimate.Dr. Obwaka developed complications, and the Wangari sought help from her neighbor, Mr. Shadrack Korir.

He accompanied her to the house and found the deceased lying supine on the bed, unresponsive, dressed in a white vest and black trousers, with his eyes closed.
Mr. Korir called for WOBS Emergency Care ambulance, citing that the deceased had developed complications and was unresponsive. The paramedics arrived and found the deceased with a weak pulse and low oxygen levels.
They performed CPR, administered oxygen, and evacuated him to Nairobi Hospital. At the hospital, the deceased was recorded as brought in dead (BID). The incident was reported at Kilimani Police Station at 2200 hrs.
Authorities are now awaiting a postmortem, which is scheduled for 5th May 2026. During the procedure, specimen samples will be collected for analysis to establish the cause of death.
