On 19th May 2026, Kache Mildred, aka Sabreena Ayesha, and Ahmed Bashar Mohamed were presented at Milimani law court before Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsaringo, facing charges of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Investigations started after complainants Terry Lee Schrubb Jr. and Kenneth J. Adler claimed they were defrauded of USD 447,000 by individuals posing as gold dealers capable of exporting gold from Kenya to Dubai.
Court documents, obtained by kauntinews.com and sworn by DCI officer Dennis Mugambi, show the suspects and unknown accomplices falsely claimed to have genuine gold for export.
The victims transferred large sums via cryptocurrency wallets for fake documentation, shipment, insurance, and logistics. Blockchain analysis revealed the proceeds moved through multiple wallets linked to the suspects, including Mohamed’s.
Court orders allowed investigators to access KYC records, wallet details, and transaction histories, uncovering ownership, Binance IDs, and fund movements tied to the fraud.Forensic reports linked communications and transactions to the case.
It was discovered that forged assay and shipping documents were used to deceive the victims. Mohamed, using his Binance wallet, received the stolen funds and transferred them to Ayesha and accomplices.
He agreed to identify the recipient of USD 231,000 to help locate other conspirators. Ayesha resisted arrest, barricading herself inside her house and attempting to escape by climbing a perimeter wall.
She was intercepted and detained. Mobile phones recovered suggested ongoing communication with accomplices, indicating collusion and attempts to obstruct justice.
Authorities believe Ayesha is the mastermind and principal coordinator. She and her accomplices had evaded arrest but were finally caught after surveillance and intelligence.
Her legal team requested more time, arguing their case tomorrow. “Your Honor, we’ve reviewed the application filed on May 18, and we seek to argue it tomorrow,” said her lawyer.
The magistrate ordered their detention at Kilimani Police Station until the next hearing.
