The court is set to deliver a ruling on the Scarlet Wahu murder case next week, on 22nd May 2026, to determine whether the main suspect, John Matara, has a case to answer.
Testifying today, 14th May 2026, at the Milimani High Court, Mbagathi Hospital medical officer Dr. Maturi stated that John Matara was brought to Mbagathi Hospital on the 4th of January 2024 at around 12:07 a.m.
The doctor informed the court that Matara was attended to at the casualty department’s minor theatre, where it was noted that the patient had sustained multiple cuts and bruises to both upper limbs and both lower limbs.

During cross-examination, Dr. Maturi stated that Matara was given a tetanus toxoid injection, pain medication, and antibiotics. All wounds were also sutured and dressed.
He also revealed that Matara received intravenous fluids, and radiographs of all limbs were taken to rule out any fractures.
The doctor further added that Matara was later discharged to be followed up as an outpatient, as there was no need for further intervention or admission. Matara was subsequently seen on the 11th and 22nd of January 2024, and was doing well.
The case is now set for a ruling on 22nd May 2026.
