Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju was on Wednesday 8th April, 2026 arraigned before a Kibera court and charged with providing false information to a public officer, a claim he has denied.
Tuju appeared before Kibera Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo, where he faced charges of giving false information contrary to Section 129(a) of the Penal Code, as preferred by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to the prosecution, the alleged offence occurred on March 21, 2026, at Entim Sidai Spa and Wellness Sanctuary in Karen, within Lang’ata Subcounty. It is claimed that Tuju reported to Karen Police Station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Purity Kobia that he was being pursued by unknown assailants and had later been abducted.

However, upon taking a plea, Tuju denied the charges, prompting the court to enter a plea of not guilty. Through his lawyer, Edward Oonge, the defence urged the court to grant reasonable bail and bond terms, citing Tuju’s health condition as a key consideration.
In her ruling, Magistrate Atambo released Tuju on a personal bond of Sh100,000, requiring one contact person. The case is scheduled for mention on April 15, 2026.
